The Lawn
Sutton Lawn is a beautiful park with woodland, grassed areas, and avenues of trees. Historically, the Lawn Pleasure Grounds encompassed the former Sutton Hall grounds, built as the residence of merchant hosier, Samuel Unwin. This was land associated with his nearby Cotton Spinning Mill and Mill Lake. Sutton Hall and most of the mill complex no longer exist, but the mill ruins and adjacent lake form the focal features of what is Sutton Lawn today.

The Green Flag Award winning park, still affectionately known as The Lawn, has a bowling green and tennis courts. The park’s lake is popular with anglers, and the circular 1k path is perfect for walkers, runners, and cyclists. Sutton Lawn is part of Mill Waters, found between Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield, and with Kings Mill Reservoir and Hermitage Ponds forms part of the green space network along the River Maun Corridor.
How to get to Sutton Lawn
By car: Exit at Junction 28 on the M1 and follow the A38.
By train: Sutton Parkway station (0.9 miles).
Parking: Sutton Lawn Bottom car park, Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 4LS.
