Newstead Abbey is known as the ancestral home of Romantic poet Lord Byron and has a fascinating historic house, gorgeous gardens, and 300 acres of parkland to explore. Found in the Nottinghamshire village of Ravenshead, Sir John Byron was given permission in 1540 by King Henry VIII to convert the former Augustinian priory into a country house. Generations later it was passed on to the sixth Baron Byron who is more famously known as the poet Lord Byron.

Newstead Abbey has Historic House Tours and regular seasonal events including summer open air theatre. The venue is also available for business events, special occasions, and weddings. Dogs need to be kept on leads throughout the park in zoned areas.

By car: Newstead Abbey is close to both the A60 and junction 27 of the M1. From the M1, follow signs for Sherwood Forest and brown signs for Newstead Abbey. For satnav, use postcode NG15 9HJ.
